SGG STADIP SILENCE can be used in many applications, combining optimum acoustic performance with the same mechanical resistance and safety properties of SGG STADIP or SGG STADIP PROTECT.

SGG STADIP SILENCE has a significantly improved acoustic performance compared with SGG STADIP and SGG STADIP PROTECT glass of the same composition using conventional PVB.

SGG STADIP SILENCE has the same mechanical resistance and safety performance as SGG STADIP or SGG STADIP PROTECT of the same composition.

Base products

SGG STADIP SILENCE is available in the same compositions as products from the SGG STADIP and SGG STADIP PROTECT range.

Branding

Products are named in the same way as the SGG STADIP and SGG STADIP PROTECT range. If the product comprises SGG PLANILUX clear float glass, as this is used as standard, no specific reference is given to the glass substrate. For  example:

SGG STADIP SILENCE  11/32 inches glass comprises 2 sheets of 5/32 inches SGG PLANILUX glass, assembled with 2 acoustic PVB(A) inter layers. If other glass types are used, the product name is added after SGG STADIP SILENCE. For example SGG STADIP SILENCE 13/32 inches ANTELIO SILVER consists of 1/4 inches SGG ANTELIO SILVER solar control glass, 5/32 inches SGG PLANILUX glass with one acoustic PVB(A) inter layer, 1/64 inches thick.

SGG STADIP SILENCE suppresses the intrusion of sound waves around the critical frequency of the glass, be it a single pane or a double glazed unit. In a double glazed unit, SGG STADIP SILENCE achieves an airborne sound insulation index value outstanding the level of 50 dB. SGG STADIP SILENCE overcomes the drop in the acoustic insulating performance of glass at the critical frequency, in both single and double glazing. It therefore ensures optimum acoustic performance.

Safety

SGG STADIP SILENCE achieves the same levels of safety and security as SGG STADIP, SGG STADIP PROTECT and SGG STADIP PROTECT SP, of identical composition (glass thickness and number of inter layers). Example: 3/8 inches SGG STADIP SILENCE is classed as P5A in accordance with BS EN 356 along with SGG STADIP PROTECT SP 510 (3/8 in).
For single glazing

For the same thickness of glass, SGG STADIP SILENCE achieves an average increase, expressed in Rw (BS EN ISO 717), of between 3 dB compared with conventional SGG STADIP or SGG STADIP PROTECT laminated glass and 5 dB compared with monolithic SGG PLANILUX.

SGG STADIP SILENCE must be installed in accordance with current national regulations and our special guidelines.

It is essential to take into account that the framing and glazing method are of equal importance as the glass. Any air gaps significantly reduce the overall acoustic insulating performance of the window.

This plastic interlayer also has the additional safety and security properties of laminated glass.

Unlike ordinary glass, laminated glass is a safety and security glass that is made by sandwiching a PVB sheet (plastic interlayer) between two pieces of glass. This means that if the glass gets broken, the interlayer will maintain the whole piece together preventing from having a hole that can let intruders get in for example, or having large free shards that can cut.

This glass transformation not only increases safety, but can also be added for decorative effects thanks to our large range of finished products with:

• possibility of assembling two sheets of glass together
• decorative finishes or technical functions that can be inserted between the sheets of glass (printed film, fabric, mesh, active films, safety insert, etc.)
